Now that the server install was out of the way, I felt that I was able to go and see some sites, without feeling guilty!
I headed to the Notre Dam cathedral first of all, and discovered that it was completely closed for refurbishment, which meant I was only able to get photos from the outside.
After this, I checked out the old post office, before heading to a coffee shop that had been recommended by a local.
Here I had a gooey cake and some local coffee, before heading to the Bitexco building to enjoy the scene o the city from on high.
At the ticketing office I was offered the chance to include a tour of the Heineken display on the floor above the observation deck, and since the difference in price was not very big, and included 3 beers and a personalised Heineken bottle, I opted for that.
During the tour, I met a dutch Guy Thomas, who spotted me on account of my using the German do say cheers when we were shown how to pour our own pints.
The tour included lots of information about Heineken in Vietnam, including the fact that they had won the foreign brewery of the year awar multiple times in a rowoffered by Heineken.
There was a section where we could play some video games and I enjoyed being the dj, using a mixing machine with lots of different samples for drums, ostinatos and other sound effects.
I arranged for my personalised beer bottle, and then we heaeded to the bar to claim our two free pints. At this point, there was a power cut, and we got to enjoy the night view of the city without so many reflections in the window.
Once the power came back on, Thomas and I headed to the Helios bar and ordered a cocktail each and enjoyed some live music.
Thomas knew a person at his hostel who bought motorbikes from tourists, serviced them, and then sold them on, and so I took some details so that I could sort out the next stage of my Vietnam visit.
We stopped by a food court on beside the Bitexco tower for dinner, and then made our way back to the hostel district.
