Phil (NZ), Kasia (PL), and myself, headed off early in the morning via Tuktuk, to the Kbal Spean waterfall area.
Our first stop involved going to the ticket office, as Phil and Kasia had just arrived, but as I had one more ticket day left, I didn't need to get involved with the purchases.
Phil took a bit longer for his than Kasia, as he opted for the 7 days ticket, but eventually we made it back to the Tuktuk, and headed on towards the waterfall.
The tuktuk driver stopped to fill up with petrol and then a bit further on make sure his tires were ful of air, and then we made our way to the waterfall.
The tuktuk itself seemed to me to be going quite slowly, but we did overtake a large group of school girls cycling somewhere, and took the opportunity to wave, which got a positive reaction from them as they all laughed and waved back at us :-)
The waterfall itself was pretty spectacular scenery in and of itself, but the fact that the rocks themselves had been carved with various fertility symbols and deities to worship made it even more special.
The tuk tuk driver initially had decided to stay with his bike, but he decided to join us in the end, as he had never been to this site, despite his being local.
We took plenty of photos, and enjoyed the trek, passing some people coming the other way who asked if i was far - of course, we told them it wasn't far - never trust a returning party to tell the truth about the distance left!
Our next stop was the temple of the ladies - so called because it was thought that the intricacy of the carvings could be done by nobody else apart from women.
There was a Striped Kukri Snake (Oligodon Taeniatus) at the first entrance steps, which had gathered quite a crowd of people to examine it - poor creature must have been terrified of us towering folk, and it was hiding underneath the wooden steps quite well!
I ended up going round the temple area twice due to the number of people at the temple, as I wanted to get some good photos of the various aspects, without having people in front of the lens to get in the way of the subject.
After this we headed back to the hostel, as per the agreed tour, but as the sun started to set, we passed Prae Roup temple, and asked the driver to let us stop there and explore this temple too.
The views were stunning, as was the sunset, and I managed to get some pretty nice shots of the statues with the colourful skies behind it.
We eventually made it back to the hostel, where Kasia was expecting to meet some of her friends after they had been separated.
As a result, I got to enjoy the company of more polish ladies (Gosia, Martha), when they joined up with the group, including another guy from the Czech Repulic, and we spent the rest of the evening enjoying beers and playing a pool game involving selecting a ball number and trying to pot everyone else's ball.
