I decided to rent out a bicycle for the day to be able to go around the temples area, so did this, and then made my way to Ankhor Wat.
Along the way, I came across a ticket check spot, and discovered that the ticket office was back in the town, so I had to cycle all the way back there to purchase the ticket!
There were 3 options:
- 1 day $62
- 3 days $72
- 7 days $80
Once the ticket was purchased, I made my way onwards to the main Temple, though it was after lunch time by this point.
The main temple is huge, with a large moat like lake around the general area.
As I wanted to see the sunset from the hill nearby, I spent the main part of the afternoon exploring the entrance as far as the main stupa, and did not climb to the top.
I made it to the hill itself ready for the sunset, and found out that i I wanted to get the view of the sunset from the temple on the hill, I really needed to have been there hours previously, due to the large numbers of people who were also there for the same reason!
After sunset it was getting dark so I made my way back to the hostel
