I woke up early ready for the pick up and enjoyed the free breakfast I'd earned for booking the tour, and then waited for the van to arrive.
After it was about 40 minutes late, they advised they were on the way and eventually arrived to pick me up.
It turns out they had left me in Chiang Mai and forgotten to pick me up, so this became a running joke for the rest of the day!
The first stop was the hot springs at Mae Kachan.
Here we could get souvenirs, and dip our feet in the hot spring and generally relax until we had to head off to the next destination - the White Temple.
The White temple is a very new installation, designed and built by a local architect, and is still under construction. It has lots of rnate areas, and the entrance involves going over the river of souls and over the bridge before going inside to see the impressive murals.
No photography is allowed inside the temple, so I have no photos of that I'm afraid, but the rest did provide plenty of opportunities for great shots.
Before leaving the white temple and heading to the lunch area, I had to go to the most beuatiful toilet in the world - a golden building with ornate decorations on the walls and roof!
We grabbed lunch next, using a card that allowed you a set amount - I topped up the card and had two meals with the funds!
Our next stop was the Rong Suea Blue temple. At this point I noticed that I was running out of room on my memory card - while I did have plenty of power in the spare battery, it doesn't help if the memory card is full!
I deleted some of the not so great shots directly from the camera, and then made sure to be conservative with the rest of my photo taking for the day.
The last point of call was the Black house, which was a museum/exhibition to a local artist, who made objects out of animal hides and bones, and was quite an extensive area.
We headed back to Chiang Mai after this, where I met up with a dancing friend from Finland, who happened to be in the area.
Johanna wasn't sure how the street food areas worked so we enjoyed a nice meal at the mini night market area near my hostel, and chatted about ncing and my adventures so far.
