I met up with Kiane again at Silom this morning, and we headed to the river and booked on to the river cruise so that we could explore the temples there.
Wat Mahathat was our first stop, the idea being to work our way to the Royal Palace afterwards.
This site is a huge Buddhist Meditation retreat, and the royal buddhist temple.
There were lots of golden buddhas and steps up to te stupas and pagodas, along with plenty of nice quiet areas that were good for meditating.
We spent quite a while there, and then headed to the royal palace, where we discovered that it was closing within 30 minutes due to the time of day.
We opted to head back to the river boat at this juncture, and as we started off, lots of tuktuk drivers tried to ask for a fare.
This activity was swiftly stopped by a traffic enforcement officer, and all but one of the tuktuk drivers disappeared very quickly. From what I can tell, the remaining one had to pay a fine for parking... Oops!
The boat back to the first pier left, and we made it there around five.
I had an idea to try and get to the sky bar, but Kiane was too tired, so we headed back to our hostels.
