We both set out in the morning, via the 7-11 to grab some breakfast.
It was a bit confusing at the desk to buy the tickets, but we eventually opted on the package that let us buy the full deal, and get refunds for the unused portions.
I used my Hanzi knowledge to identify the right bus for us (no english on the bus!).
We made our way up to the lake, through towering hills/mountains, and made it to the first town where our boat was waiting for us.
From there, someone directed us to where to get the boat, and after we had answered nature's call, we got to the jetty, the last two to the boat.
The trip to the first spot was very much like the boat trip on Taal Volcano, in a lake surrounded by hills all around, and the views were very picturesque.
We decided that the most important part of the trip was visitting the cultural village, where we could learn about the different cultures that lived on Taiwan before politics became an issue, several decades ago.
We disembarked at the foot of the chairlift, and then headed up, commenting about how the cable car itself was swiss and austrian made, and marvelling at the views offered as we neared the summit.
One of the points of the village let us try our hand at using blow darts.
Laurens seemed to be quite adept, and I proved that I should never be given any kind of weapon by only hitting the target sheet itself one or twice. I'm not sure if I even hit inside the main target itself!
The walk through the villages was peaceful and in the trees, so there was no wind, and the weather was a pleasant sunshine.
Just before lunch, we tried our hand at archery.
Laurens did so well on his first shot, that he was awarded another quiver full of arrows - nthe other hand, I performed pretty poorly.
I am going to blame this on the fact that they didn't have any left handed bows, so I had to sight using the wrong eye!
Lunch was ok, a little pricey, but since it consisted of rice, and meat, was relatively filling, and I decided to add in a beer for good measure.
We continued our way through the villages, and decided to skip the amusement park at the end, just taking the cable car to the summit for the one back down.
On the way back down we witnessed a strange feature in the water, which looked a bit like a geyser, but also didn't seem natural, and we never figured out what it was.
We hopped on the boat back to the town and caught the bus - having to wait for the second one as there was such a long line of people waiting.
