I decided that no trip to Taiwan would be complete without taking the bullet train.
After sorting my stuff out and heading the the station, I grabbed some food, and checked the notice board describing the journeys.
I opted for the one with the least stops but still included mine. This process was made easier by my having a rudimentary understanding of Chinese characters!
I wasn't sure if I could eat my sandwiches in the waiting area until I saw someone else doing so, so indulged, and then headed to the platform as the time for departure approached.
The train to Taizhong took 40 minutes, and then I had to get public transport to the town center where the hostel was - which took 50 minutes!
