I had packed the night before, as it was a 5am start, and so when I woke at 5am, I was able to just freshen up and head to the porch to wait for the grab driver.
He was not there, and once it got to 10 past 5 I decided that it was now a point of no return and ordered another grab.
We were pulling away when the original driver turned up, but I stayed with the booking through the app, as it woud have been unfair on the official ordered driver to cancel
On the way to the erry terminal we came across a very home made trike that seemed to be designed for taking cargo from the port to a shop, and almost certainly was not road legal, let alone safe!
Checkin was fast, after paying the terminal fees, and I was onboard the boat for 6.30.
I paid for breakfast 160, which was butter chicken rice, with sweet bread and water, and then slept until lunch time as had had very little sleep in order to get on the boat in time.
At lunch time, I headed to the canteen area where I was served chicken rice for the meal, though this piece of chicken had hardly any meat on it.
The film that had been playing in the cabin was repeating, so I got to see parts I had missed during my naps, and then we had a ticket inspection.
There was a karaoke competition at 3pm, which I decided to take part in as a way to be able to break the ice with the locals. As it came closer to my turn, I got more nervous, until the girl before me went up and sang so badly that she was getting applaus and cheers from the audience!
During the interview by the hostess, she was struggling to ask the questions in English, and I threw in an answer in Tagalog as a good will gesture. She realised and asked if I spoke Tagalog, and I got to say "Hindo ko maintindihan" which Raine had taught me several months previous!
I sung Eternal Flame on the Karaoke, and was rated 100% by the machine, though the person who won the actual competition certainly deserved it, with a great range and voice!
After the competition, a local from Bacolod , Ryan Raymond says hi, and bought me a beer and soup, though after the warning Rain and Jane and every other Filipino I had met, I was a bit wary of what his motives were.
I headed out to the deck and enjoyed the views of going between the islands, and then went to claim my dinner in the canteen again - this time it was chicken rice, and I became concerned that it was going to be the same for breakfast the next morning too!
