I had a fairly lazy morning, not leaving until 2pm, and decided I would make my way to Fort Santiago, via the 2go office to buy the ferry tickets.
I walked to the Jeepney stop on North Aquina Avenue, and the vehicile didn't go the route I was expecting, so I had to walk quit far to get back to the MRT line.
On my way, I came across a place selling donuts for 5php - so I bought a couple for breakfast - this could be dangerous if donuts are this cheap!
I got the LRT line to Central and made my way to SM City mall were I manage to locate the 2go dealer - I decided buying the tickets in person was much more convenient because of the fact that purchasing online required me to get photo copies of the credit card, printouts of the tickets, photocopies of the printouts ad copies of my ID!
After making the purchase, I found a Jollibee, and ordered a hot dog before walking to the cathedral.
Crossing the roads required various methods to be employed, including finding where the traffic was predictable and also where someone else was crossing - the idea being safety in numbers!
On the way to the cathedral I got distracted by national museum, but was on the wrong side for the entry, so just pressed on to the cathedral anyway.
By the time I made it to the Cathedral it was already quite late so I skipped going in and went to Fort Santiago, just another block or two away, in order to tour it while it was still daylight.
Going around Fort Santiago, I learned some of the history of the Phillipines gaining its independence from Spai, with the martyr Cortez being hailed as a hero by the nation for helping them find a voice - though he was executed by the Spanish for his diplomatic attempts!
I walked back via the river, and hopped on the LRT, finding ti much easier to get on the Jeepney at Baclaran.
Once I got to the stop at the avenue, I found the Jeepney station for the last part in to the village, but I opted to walk anyway, as it looked like the traffic was nose to tail and not moving very fast. This proved to be the right decision, as I overtook 5 Jeepneys on the way and only 3 of them had caught up with me by the time I made it to the junction to the hostel!
I met a person in the hostel who happened to be a grab driver, and he agreed to pick me up at the hostel in the morning to get me to the ferry in time for tomorrow.
After he left, I learned that one of the guys I was sharing a room with had had an interesting night that night at the casino where he lost a lot of money, and paid for losing his virginity - and when he came back he really did not look very happy about life - personally I think he made a bad decision on both parts - both the casino and the girl, and he probably felt the same way.
I watched After Earth on the screen in the common room, and also met a girl from California who was part Taiwanese part Japanese.
