Jane and I got the Grab taxi to the airport, arriving for 9am, and as it came to 10RM in total, she gave me 5RM, although I tried to refuse it, as I didn't want such small change!
We went through the luggage check in formalities, and my baggage came to 16kg, wich was still overweight for the 15kg allowance I was trying to manage, but since I had paid for 20kg on this flight I didn't mind.
Jane had an extra box of stuff however that took her 4kg over her allowance, and was advised that she would have to pay almost as much as the flight to check it in.
We came to an agreement that since I was 4kg under and she was 4kg over, I could take the 4kg box on my allowance, which the check in assistant agreed to.
Once we landed and picked up our stuff and did the immigration thing, Jane helped to get a taxi to the Hostel that I was staying at. It came to over 1000php which was far too much money for the distance, but we didn't really have a choice!
Once I had sorted out my stuff, we got an Uber taxi to Jane's university and then Jane showed me were the mrt and lrt lines were and the main place to buy ferry tickets with 2go.
As we were crossing the road here, we came across a traffic director who was very enthusiastic about his role, carrying a megaaphone, and positively shouting and gesticulaing wildly at any pedestrians who dared to try cross at the wrong time!
I order some tapsilog in the mall, and had that, as there was no sisig for me to order, and I was already working out food prices compared to Malaysia, - Pinoy food being slightly more expensive.
We headed back to the MRT, and Jane advised me to get the line to Baclaran and then I should probably find a Jeepney from there.
I got there, and once I hit the main road I was a bit dioriented as unsure which way was north - this not being helped by the compass on my phone being broken!
I tried to ask some locals which way along the street the Jollibee or the Megamall was, but while they understood the question, they genuinely had no idea of the answer
I eventually found the main road where I thought I would be able to get a Jeepney, and ended up asking the police at a police box the best Jeepney to get.
They advised me the wrong Jeepney, so I ended up at SM Mall, wih really my only option from the being to order a grab.
As I was waiting for the grab, a small boy decided to beg for money, which I was fairly sure was illegal so I told him to go away I'm afraid.
Once I got in to the grab car, the kid was still at the window trying to get me to give him money, until the taxi driver finally pulled away.
I had been experiencing stomach pains throughout the day so I didn't do much else that evening except rest.
