I had a lazy day for the most part today, since the bus was set to leave at 7pm.
I spent some time chatting with sme Scottish people in the rest area. Some had been diving in the Galapagos islands (jealous much!?) and as well as that topic the discussion was about diving on the west coast of Australia.
Around noon, I headed to the bus station area to buy the bus tickets back to Kota Kinabalu, and took the opportunity to ask about where I could find some clip on glasses. The ticket person at the bus area was kind enough to lead me to some likely places, but none of them had anything that I was looking for.
I headed back to the lodge, where I met up with Jessica (dive buddy from yesterday) for lunch, as we were both just waiting for transport, she to the airport, and me to KK.
I stayed around in the lodge after that until 7pm, chatting with the folk there about diving, and updating my journal, and then walked to the bus station with the Scottish guy who was heading to Perth WA.
The bus seemed to be travelling very fast, and we stopped around midnight for snacks and a comfort break, before continuing on to KK.
Fortunately I had remembered my long trouser extensions, as well as the jacket, so I did not feel too cold on the bus.
When we reached Ranau in the small hours, we had to stop, and everyone had to get off the bus, as a sink hole had opened in the road, and the bus was too heavy with all passengers on board, to be able to pass by without falling in!
We eventually made it to KK bus station at around 5am, which was too early for me to hope to check in to the hostel, so I found a bench and gabbed some extra snooze hours, much to the annoyance of the taxi drivers who were determined to try and get a fare out of me!
