I had a lazy morning, charging my devices and packing, before heading to the bus station for lunch time. I enjoyed the same breakfast of banana pancakes, but by the time I was at the station at midday, i was hungry again so I hunted around and found a place selling nasi goreng kampung with teh o ais - my go to cheap meal in Malaysia!
While I was at the bus station I discovered that the reason I had been confused earlier about the location was because the bus station had moved from a different location and it had not been updated on Google Maps, so I provided Google with the updated information to score more points as a google local guide.
The bus departed at 1343h and I learned that the bus driver seemed to be quite a happy person and he was beeping merrily at everyone and every thing.
At around 15.42 though there was an extra determined beep and I looked up from the front seat to see something in the road, which we promptly hit and it flew in to the air and to the side of the road. We had hit a dog, and the speed we had been going there wasn't really anything that could be done for it.
The bus pulled over to make sure that it was still safe to continue on the journey, and it seemed that the damage the bus was superficial bumper damage and we oculd go on.
We had a Rest stop 5.30 where everyone got off the bus to rerelieve themselves and buy some snacks, while the driver hosed the wheels down, causing steam to come off them.
At this point, the belgiun girls sitting behind me asked if I had seen what we had hit earlier, and I confirmed that it was a dog, to which they were surprised we hadn't stopped right away, though I explained that there was really nothing that could have been done even if we had stopped.
I spotted a giant bat flying around just before we turned off to the last stretch of road to Semporna.
Once we arrived, a group of us all seemed to be heading to the same area, so with my data connection for map guidance we made our way to the seafront, and found our way to the hostels.
