I headed out today at around 10am and nt for a wander around the town, finding a history center which looked closed, and then making my way to Masjid Omar to take some photos.
It was quite breeey so there was no good reflection on the water around the mosque, and it was too bright to get good long exposure photos, so I left it and headed to the waterfront to look for the tourist information center.
There, I established that the feri to Kotakinabalu was cheaper than the bus, 85RM instead of 145RM, and so decided I would take that option. It also meant it would be easier on my passport too, since the bus route left Brunei, then went back in before leaving again, meaning I would have lots of extra stamps to fill up the pages!
I headed to Muara since I was not able to get good information about the feri times in Bandar Seri, so I found a nearby restaurant and had Mee Bakso for $2.50 before getting a bus to Muara for $1.
I didn't see any bus available to get me to the terminal, so I walked there, and discovered that everywhere was closed, with no timetable information available, until I noticed the tv screen hanging from the ceiling with departure times and arrival times for the day. I took photos of the relevant information, and then walked back to the bus stops.
As there were no busses there, I went and grabbed can of coffee and a bottle of water from the nearby shop. I handed him some cash, but before he gave me the change the phone rang which he answered.
During his phone conversation, the bus arrived, and then started to pull away, so I had to get him to hurry up and pay me, the bus drove away and I chased after it.
Fortunately for me, it pulled in to the gas station first, so I hopped on, much to the surprise of the driver when he got back in!
I headed back to the mosque after getting back in to Bandar Seri, and got some better photos with the sunset light, and then headed back to the hostel to get some good sleep since it was to be an early start in the morning.
