Xander and I both were up in plenty of time for the bs to the village, and waited outside at the alloted time. We were expecting a van, however it turned out to be a jeep for this part, and so were looking quite gormless when the guy pulled up and said he was the driver!
After stopping to pick up other guests from the hotel near the waterfront, we had a very ouncy journey to the village itself. Some of the bumps caused murmurs from the guests behind us, which the driver apologised for!
At the entrance we had to convert our hand written receipts from the hostel in to tickets - it looked like we had managed to get a very good deal, as taking in to account tax, it meant the journey there and back was very cheap!
The village layout was such that there were various houses or Rumas, and we went through them watching the activities. The first big room gave us the opportunity to try out using a blow pipe, and then we headed to the hand weaving area before we had to double back and go to the theater to watch the variety show.
The show lasted for a good hour or more, and there was a great point during it where the tribe leader from one of the tribes had found a pretty girl in the audience and were encouraging her to try and hit the balloon with the blowpipe darts. Of course, the distance was very far so she kept missing, and the guy indicated that for the third attempt, if she missed she should take off her pants. This caused great hilarity in the audience of course, but the secret to being able to pop the balloon was revealed - they led her right up to the balloon so she hardly had to aim at all!
We grabbed lunch at the restaurant , both of us choosing ayam penyet as it looked delicious - it seemed to be a nasi lemak with marinated chicken, and was as delicious as it looked!
We decided to grab some Cucur snacks after this, which were deep fried fruits in batter, like the pisang goreng I had tried in Melaka.
We wnt around the rest of houses after this, watching carving and knife making skills, along with baking of cookies and great musical drumming in the village leader's hut, with very voluptuous four poster type bed in it.
We had been around the whole village by about 3pm, and so headed to the beach to enjoy the view there before waiting back at the village entrance for the van pickup.
This time it was a van (minibus) that took us back to the hostel, as there were more people coming back than had been taken in the first place.
We got back to the hostel, and took a nap for the rest of the afternoon to recover from the heat, before heading to the greenhills restaurant for some nasi goreng ayam for dinner
