As this is my second time in Kuching, I decided that I couldn't get away with not going to the cat museum!
I headed to the bus station and hopped on the bus for 1pm. The bus was late leaving but since there was no huge rush to get anywhere it was fine.
There was a German couple on the bus, who were also going to the cat museum too, though they rushed ahead up the hill, while I enjoyed it at a stroll and admired the view.
By time I got to the museum, the Germans were already leaving! I was a bit unsure from this whether it was going to be a good idea to do the museum after all, but I decided to go ahead.
Entry to the museum was free, unless you wanted to take photos, in which case you needed to pay for using the camera, so I paid the photography charges, and went around the museum for 90 minutes.
Unsurprisingly, there were cats everywhere! I sometimes forgot that Kuching meant Cat, so had to remind myself that they were not all Kuching native species that were being shown.
After viewing every exhibit, I made my way back down the hill and asked the security guy at the gate where to find a bus stop. He indicated I could go along the road and find one there, so I headed that way.
At the bus stop I noticed there was a mall like place across the road, and so headed there to get a bottle of water.
I got a van back rather than a bus, though it was all the same price, and decided that since my phone was still not drying out, that I would have a look in the Merdeka Mall to see if I could find a place that could repair it.
I made it to the Sony store there, and they pointed me along the aisla a bit to a place that could do the job, which I duely headed to.
After talking with the people there, they indicated that they could get the job done by 6pm, so I left the phone with them, and headed back to the hostel.
After leaving my stuff back in the room I headed to the laudnrette and picked up my clothes and took them back to the hostel too.
I headed back to the mall for 6pm, and went to pick up the phone, which had only been 30RM to remove the water from, which I was pretty impressed with.
By this point I was hungry, so I grabbed a meal at the food court, though as soon as I went to take a photo of it with my phone I noticed that the lens had fogged up again!
After finishing the meal, which I didn't want to get cold!, I headed back to the repair shop, and they got me to call their manager since I stated I was unwilling to pay a second time for a repair that had not been done properly the first time.
The manager was good about it and confirmed that I didn't need to pay a second time, so I left the phone with them again after being quoted an hour.
I decided at this point to have a look around the sony shop to see if I could get a new case for the phone, as the one thing I had noticed about the current one is that it really retained the heat energy given off by the phone.
Rather than going anywhere else I just sat and watched the world go by near the food court, and soon 90 minutes had passed without me really noticing.
After the second time of asking, the phone appeared to be repaired now, so I took it back to the hostel and ade arrangements with the hostel owner to go to the cultural village the following day.
I met Xander from Holland and he was also interested in going to the cultural village so we both ended up on the same tour for the morning.
