I had a fairly lazy morning, and after free breakfast, left for the bus station by Grab at around midday. It arrived at the bus station for 1245h, where I discovered that the hostel's information about bus times was out of date, and the bus actually left an hour earlier than I'd planned for.
As I am the paranoid sort however, I still had time to get lunch before the bus, and had Nasi Goreng Kampung with Teh O Ais.
The bus left at 1330h, and took about two hours along not brilliant roads. There was lots of jungle scenery, and tantalising glimpses of pointy hills in the back ground which were next to impossible to photograph due to the folliage in the foreground.
We reached Lundu around 1515h, and there was an impromptu spectator incident as a lorry had overturned off the road.
At the bus station in Lundu I discovered that there was no busses to the national park area, and no taxis around available to take, so I walked the 2.7km in.
The person at the entrance gate didn't hvve change for the entrance fee, so I made arrangements to pay entrance and accomodation at the site office.
I checked in at 1610h, and met a Swedish group of 3 who were also there to go up Gunung Gading. We agreed to all go in to town together to get supplies for the trek and breakfast at the local supermarket, and headed off in to town.
Just as we got near to the town, the heavens opened up and we all took shelter at a nearby bus stop until the worst of it had stopped. By this point, the roads were overflowing with water, so I was glad to be wearing just sandals, since I didn't mind my feet getting wet!
I was the first o complete my grocery shopping at the store, and we had spotted a food court there.
I advised Emin, Mamille and Maxine, that I would meet them there, and headed off to grab dinner.
I decided on Nasi Goreng Kampung, which came with a fried egg, and some Teh O Ais.
After we had all eaten, we headed back to the hostel, and shared in some Very Old Whiskey, making the obvious jokes about it being very old1
