I got up with plenty of time to spare, and grabbed the last free breakfast in KL. After saying my goodbyes to everyone, I headed to Pasar Seni LRT and headed to KLIA via KL Sentral station. I had not anticipated the cost of the train to the airport, otherwise I might have taken alternative options, but it was too late now so I just paid up.
I found an Air Asia check in counter, and took the ubiquitous selfie, and then discovered that it was the wrong one! I had to go to a different place in the airport for domestic flights!
I eventually found the right one, and checked the weight of my backpack now that I had sent 4.5kg worth of stuff back - 16.2kg was the new figure, meaning that if I could find a way to move another 1kg from there in to the smaller carry on section, I would be able to only pay for 15kg luggage from now on.
I wandered around the terminal looking for somewhere to eat lunch, but as is the way with all airports, everything was very much over priced, apart from McDonalds, which, while expensive, was normal McDonalds prices, so I just went there and had the unhealthy option. It did make a pleasant change from rice though!
We boarded the aircraft at 13.50 ... the A/C was so effective on board that it was causing the water in the air to condense, resulting in a very atmospheric dry ice appearence to the craft. It was a bit disconcerting to start with but crew seemed relaxed and not in the slightest concerned, so I decided to take my cue from that and let it be.
The flight was fairly uneventful, and we landed in Kuching at 15.50.
Sarawak is a state unto itself, even though it's in Malaysia, so I had to go through an immigration check (one of the reasons I couldn't come before getting the passport). They were confused at first about the full visa page that I had but it all checked out and they stamped me for a stay until 4th of September.
I booked a grab to the hostel that I had booked, and arrived there for 5pm.
The hostel hadn't received the booking confirmation, but accepted the email confirmation that I had received, so I headed to the room and umped my bags.
I contacted Mariana, and arranged to meet up with her tomorrow, as I felt too tired to meet anyone after the journey, and just wanted to relax in the evening.
I took a quick nap, and then headed out to look for somewhere to grab dinner, finding a local food court which had Nasi Ayam available for only 4.50 RM.
After that I headed back to the hostel and unwound for the rest of the evening.
