I had a lazy morning, and so made it to the bus for around 1pm after a quick lunch.
I arrived at the immigration office at around 2pm, and discovered that it was a lot busier than when I had gone there to get my emergency passport stamped.
To compound this, nobody was at any desks, so we had to queue for a much longer time than normal.
I made it to reception desk, and after some confusion about what I wanted, most likely caused by language barrier, the desk did agree that I should be able to get the stamp in my new passport until the 4th of September, as per the existing stamp.
After finding out what I needed to photocopy and getting those done at the floor below, I was assigned ticket 5022. Looking at the displays showed that it was currently at ticket number 4081. I was not disheartened by this however, as I knew that the first digit represented the type of service rather than it being at actual full placement in the queue!
I was the next to be called, and handed in my papers and passport to be processed.
During the almost 90 minutes long wait, there was a young child in the area, who was alternating between screaming and curiosity. At one stage she found another who was a bit older than her, watching something on a tablet to decided to participate. She tried to sit beside me, but the seat for that spot was missing and so there was no back. I was not fast enough to prevent her toppling over backwards on to the floor, but she was unphased and just went around to stand instead.
At 3.45 I finally get called over, and find that I have been given a referal letter to produce to the department on the floor below. Unfortunately, this department closed at 3.30, which meant I had to come back the next day to finish the process!
I headed back to the bus stop, this time knowing where to go, and had to wait for a full round, as the first bus back was full.
I finally made it back to the hostel for 6.30, and reheated the food I had taken back from the photo shoot day as my evening meal.
