I have still not heard back from the high commission about my passport, but either way I needed to be in Kuala Lumpur for the next bit of any trip wherever it took me, so I took the local ferry to Butterworth.
I had a nice long lie, and checked out of the hostel at around 11.30am, before heading to the food court bside Cornwallis.
While I was eating, a Shikh man came to chat with me, after seeing my huge rucksack and guitar, and was impresse with me relaxed approach to my travels. He passed by later on and we said hello again, and then I headed to the jetty.
At first I arrived at the Langkawi Jetty, and was directed to the correct place which was further along the street.
I made it to the terminal and got on to the boat with plenty of time to spare, and an idea as to how much the cheapest bus to Kuala Lumpu was. This being half the price of the train, I didn't mind the extra journey time it involved.
While on the boat, I met another traveller, from Slovakia, who had a guitar, and was using the neck of the guitar as the frame for every photo he took while travelling.
He had just bought a new case as his last one had broken, and when we got off the ferry, I helped him get it up the stairs. We stopped at the top because the wheels were very hot - it seemed like this case was also not going to last long for him! We jammed on our guitars for 40 minutes or so, and then continued on the way towards the bus station.
Immediately on getting close, some ticket touts descended on us asking us where we were going. I said Kaual Lumpur, and the guy said yes. Before telling me the price, I quoted the lowest price I had found, which he agreed to, and guided me to the bus.
As it turned out, this particular bus was 15% more expensive than the price I had paid, so being forarmed with rlevant price info paid off for me!
The journey south was pretty uneventful. I had already seen all the scenery a few times now, so I was able to snooze en route.
I called Suzies, and determined that the dorms were full, so decided I would check in to the place next door which did laundry, Raizzys.
Once the bus got to TBS, I used the LRT to get to Pasar Seni, and checked in to Raizzys, where I went to bed early to be sure of a nice early productive day.
