I had arranged with Fatima that I would meet them at around 1030h near her hotel, so I left the hostel with Manu at around 9.30. This gave us time to walk to the beach area, and find a restoran to have breakfast.
We both had roti canai of various sorts, and then Fatima messaged to advise that they were runnning late.
As it happened, they had planned to eat at the same place that Manu and I were already at, so we met there without having to arrange anything further!
I booked a grab once Fatima and Faye had eaten, although the driver didn't find the restoran, instead waiting at a pizza place for us. We piled in and headed to the Sky Bridge car park.
On the way there, we spotted some monkeys, and so the driver stopped and gave us chocolate to give to the monkeys. I wasn't too much in favour of this, but Faye had only just got to Malaysia so monkeys were very much a novelty for her, which for Fatima, Manu, and myself, we had already seen plenty of them before!
We headed on, and once we got to the car park, we noticed that the base station for the gondola was like a theme park, with tourist shops, fun rides, arcades and all sorts of other distractions designed to get money out of tourists' pockets!
We just bought the tickets for the gondola to the top station, and didn't purchase any of the extras. Once we had the tickets, we headed for the line, and were lucky to be able to get a car all to ourselves.
We marvelled at the views on the way up, noticing a fair spectacular waterfall, which looked like a gash in the forested hillside.
Part of the way up, there was a stop to observe the views, and as we got there, the cloud started to lift from the sky bridge itself. Here seemed a good place to try out my new selfie stick, so I brought it out and we all posed dutifully with various views behind us.
We continued on to the top station, where there was an option to buy a ticket to the glide and bridge, or just nature walk and bridge. We all decided on the nature walk, so got that, and headed down the hill to the bridge itself.
Along the bridge itself were various spots where the floor was made of glass, where you could see the substantial drop to the forest below. At one point I noticed someone pointing somewhere below, and asking his friend if he could see a specific tree.
We took more photos at the other side of the bridge, and then headed back across the bridge, where we bumped in to Mac who we knew from the hostel in Ipoh.
We arranged to try and meet up later in the evening for osme beers, and he advised us that we should also go to the sevel falls and described a water fall with 7 pools. We got to the top of the gondola and asked the staff there who confirmed it was the waterfall that we had seen from the gondola, and so since we were this side of the island we decided we had no excuse for missing it.
Rather than getting a taxi, since it was less than 2km, we walked to the falls, and also decided not to climb to the top but just enjoy the pools at the bottom. The site itself is called "Air Terjun Telaga Tujuh", Air being Malay for water (confused much?).
We got a grab back to the hotel and Manu and I headed back to the hostel to shower. We didn't manage to hear back from either Fatima or Faye or Mac in regards to the beers, so we just had an early night instead.
