We headed off to the train station around lunch time, as we all needed a long lie after the long walk!
We booked on to a train to Butterworth, and then Kim went to find lunch, though Fatima and I were convinced that he wouldn't make it in time!
We waited close to the gate this time, to be sure of not missing it, and boarded in good time.
The train journey itself was fairly uneventful, apart from the fact that one passenger decided that it was fine to be eataing Durian fruit in the carriage. Most places in Asia ban eating Durian on public transport, due to the pungeant smell that it gives off, so we silently cursed the person, since even after he left before butterworth, the smell carried on for the rest of the journey!
Once we disembarked, a kind local showed us how to get to the ferry for Pulau Pinang, and we got on with just a 1.20RM fare for foot passengers!
Once we arrived, we agreed to meet up later, so Fatima went to her booked hostel to meet with a friend who was joining her for the last week or so of her trip.
Kim and I had not booked any hostel at this point, so we headed towards where the cheapest one we could find on Hostelworld was, though it started to rain, which was probably for the best, as we ended up passing a place called the "Good Night Cafe" which offered dorm accomodation for 18RM a night.
We booked in and headed down the street a bit where we found a place selling Nasi Goreng for 5RM - which we decided to call success!
