I met Fatima today, who is from London. She is staying at the Mari hostel, and Kim invited her to come to the temples with us.
I had decided that Kek Lok Tong was probably the best one in the vicinity, and we agreed to go there and the 3 temples nearest too, as a way to spend the day.
We walked through gardens, and watched for a while as an excavator was digging up the cliff and sending boulders down to the bottom, making quite a racket!
We walked to the other 3 temples, though both Fatima and Kim were not very impressed by them, as they had been touristed up and had less temple appeal as a result.
We managed to get grab back to old Ipoh, and had local food in same place as I ate the day before, and went down columbine lane, seizing the opportunity to take touristy photos on the way!
We decided that we would travel to Taiping together and spend time there, as I now knew that my passport hadn't arrived yet, and I decided that I should not lose out on the opportunity to see the rest of Malaysia by sitting still.
We headed to the train station after njoying a beer, and bought tickets to Taiping for a rtain that we deemed was late enough to be able to wake up for, and early enough to allow us to get to the top of Bukit Maxwell, a trek that Fatima had advised was the main purpose for going to Taiping for.
Once we had the tickets, we headed to the night market with Mac rom the Mari hostel, where we had laksa.
We had planned to go to another night market for dessert but we were stuffed from the two meals already eaten, so just looked at the stalls before heading back to our hostels.
