Today's mission is to get a police report regarding the fact that my passport is missing. The plan was to go to the police station with Hanafi and Jim, as Hanafi knew me by now, and could talk Bahasa Malaysia, which would make the whole process smoother.
I enjoyed a long lie, and then after lunch, Hanafi, Jim, and myself left for the police station.
We walked to the monorail station, and hopped on. Nafi and myself went through the gates quickly as we had touch n go cards, but we had to wait for Jim who purchased the ticket token at a machine instead.
We got off at the station, after convincing Nafi it was the right one, and made our way to the tourist police unit.
Nafi knew the people there as it was next to the radio station where he and Jim did a tourist program earlier in the year. We establishe though that it was the wrong police station, and that we had to go to the special branch to get my report.
We found the bus there, and after navigating the busy traffic and reaching reception, made it to the inspector's office, where he made a quick phone call, and established that I was able to still be in the country until the 15th of June. This was a revelation to me, as I had done my maths wrong and thought it was meant to be the 19th!
Once I had my bit of paper for the initial report, I had to go down to the reception area and get the main report written up by an officer there. I explained the story about how I had misplaced the passport and been unable to find it, and after Nafi corrected the terrible English in the report, we took it back to the inspector to be signed.
We made our way back to the hostel, and just in time too, as a thunderstorm broke just we got in!
I now had my report, my passport declaration to be signed and a plan to visit Singapore the following weekend arranged.
