Kim left for Indonesia yesterday after taking some notes about where I had been. I hadn't fully decided on what I wanted to do yet. I had met a couple of divers already in KL. I had by now made friends with Napi from the hostel who advised that Pulau Tenggol was a great spot to go diving with Whale Sharks. As this was high on my list of things I wanted to do, I was trying to think of how to achieve this as well as going to Perhentian.
In the meantime though, I decided that I really ought to go to the Batu Caves, since it was another famous tourist spot in the city, and very easy to get to. I headed to KL station, and took the train, which arrived at the location, just 2 minutes walk away from the temples.
The large golden buddha statue was quite imposing above the steps, and I counted my way up all 272 of them before entering the cave complex itself.
There was some restoration work going on and lots of people around. The photos tell most of this part of the story. The monkeys on the stairs were pretty brazen, and when I got to the Dark Caves area, I found someone was feeding them - a big no according to the signs - and he paid for it when two monkeys mobbed him for the whole pack of peanuts!
