Raine and I decided to spend the weekend in Johor Bahru as a getaway to take my mind off being ill where it was cheaper than staying or eating in Singapore.
We eventually got organised enough to head out, though my first port of call was the post office so that I could post the Indonesia souveniirs, that being Batik, and the other stuff I hadn't yet posted from SG such as Australian Open programme, and the multitude of rooster charms.
Before I left the hostel, I took the panadol and a rehydration sachet, and used Raine's cup or the correct amount of water. As I was shaking it dry from washing, the handle snapped off! Oh well, end of that cup!
I made it to the post office and sent the stuff off, being sure to alert Sara and Colin of the incoming parcel, and then made my way through the mall to Farrer Park MRT, and headed to Dhoby Ghaut station, which was the best interchange to transfer to the Woodlands line, and meet up with Raine.
As she was still a bit away when I got to DG, I took the opportunity to grab some food, which turned out to be pizza. It was packaged in strange envelopes which I wasn't quite sure of, so the first one ended up on the floor! Oh well, lesson learned, I opened the other one more carefully and devoured it before heading to wait at the platform.
We managed to meet up eventually, and got on the Woodlands train, though the new plan was to go to the next station, Kranji, as easier to get the bus there.
The MRT took a while to get to Kranji, then we found our way to the 170 bus, and start the fun process of going through immigration!
The first immigration check point (leaving SG), had lots of people queueing and it took about an hour to get through, and then we had to stand in line at the bus terminal there to get back on the 170. That took us over the causeway and then we had to go through Malaysian immigration. This one was empty though so it was very fast, but again we had to queue for the bus. Before we did that, Raine changed some money over and I grabbed some water from a mini stall.
We made it to Larkin bus terminal eventually, and headed to the hostel that I had booked. This involved some expert navigation on my part, but I did get in to trouble for the fact that there were stairs to climb!
Once we had sorted our stuff in to the hostel we headed to the food area that we had seen on the way in, and got Otah, Daging/Ayam Satay, Daging Paprik, ad Nasi Putih, which we fairly well demolished once it was there!
