I have not been very well over the last few dayys, with fever and sore muscles on the 4th/5th. That was better by the 6th but I still felt weak, so stayed in bed and just ate from the hostel cafe. I felt well enough by today to get to the beach and collect some sand for Raine before going to the airport for a flight back to Singapore. I walked to the airport after packing, and went through security.
This was the first airport security check in a while that actually required that not take water through, so I finished the water in the bottle, and then went to grab a burger meal, which while being expensive was delicious!
On the flight, I just got coffee instead of the meal, and speculated about how long the immigration queue was going to be
I arrived at Changi airport and the immigration queue was much faster this time around, and as I got to the Singapore side, Raine also arrived to meet me. We had a plan to go to Subway which we carried out, though I felt very tired. Raine wasn't feeling cold in the airport, but I was, which gave me a clue that something wasn't right still, We went back to her apartment with a view that I might be going to the hospital, and she checked my temperature, which turned out to be 40.2°rees;C!
I checked my insurance policy regarding how to get cover for charges, and also the cost of emergency admission, and headed to Changi General Hospital. As we entered, the reception staff asked "Who is the patient?" and then saw me on their IR camera and just said "Oh" and measured my inner ear temperature, which was still 40.2°rees;C. As it was over 40, I was given priority, and after several consultations, and some blood tests, I was prescribed a saline solution drip for an hour and given high strength ibuprofin to try and bring the fever down.
By the end of the drip, I was below 40°rees;C but still getting pain in the left side of my head. The doctors were not sure what to do, as the blood tests had come back with no virus levels high enough to determine the cause, high white cell count, and other levels indicating dehydration, so I was prescribed strong panadol and rehydration sachets, and asked to make a followup appointment with a specialist.
By this time is was about 4am, so Raine and I went back to her apartment where I slept for a couple of hours on the couch, as I wouldn't be able to get in to the LRD hostel.
