Today was all about hangovers for most of us, or at least at the start of the day. We arranged to go to Panca Wisata where we enjoyed some Tube Caving on a river. This took us through a large cave where there were lots of fruit bats, and there was a 2m high rock which we could jump off in to the river. I didn't take my camera with me, due to the abundance of water, so I'm afraid there's no photos!
After this we headed on the back of a pickup to another river, which we then went down on the tubes, including some rapids at the very start. The truck journey was great seeing all of the scenery, though Toby accidently stood on my sore toe which caused much colourful language to be forthcoming from me. Meanwhile, Emily was suffering from her hangover and so wasn't able to enjoy any of the scenery.
There was a stop along the way at a waterfall, where there was the opportunity to jump off a cliff in to the water. When I got near the platform on the side, and saw people jumping off, I was pretty sure it wasn't for me, but by the time I got there I thought I would give it a go.
I waited for others to go, Emily and Lu both went after a false start. I tried a few times, but it was like hitting a brick wall for me, and I wasn't able to make it closer than a foot or so from the edge, before balking. Even a much older guy jumping off wasn't enough to encourage me, and I climbed back down to the river rather than jump.
We headed back to the exit, and it was already getting quite late in to the day, so we got our taxi driver to take us to Bukit Bintang - Bukit means hill, and as already discussed Bintang means star, so this is Star Hill.
From here we enjoyed some hot drinks while we watched the sun set over Jogjakarta, with the Volcano - Gunung Merbabu on the right. It was a fantastic spot, and after the sun had set, to the chorus of the call to prayer, we were treated to a lightening storm behind the volcano, causing it to be silhouted. The light was not good enough for photos again - sorry!
We headed back and asked the driver to wait, as we wanted to head to a Warung (street stall) that Jack had recommended for us to eat. We picked Jack up for this, and headed to Gudeg Mercon Bu Tinah where we enjoyed Gudeg. This included sitting on the road side with our haul munching o the delicious spicy rice and satay food!
After this, we headed to the SkyBar, where Jack went on stage at the live band karaoke style event to sing some songs while Toby, Emily, Lu and myself enjoyed from the roof top beer garden.
We paid the driver when we were dropped off at the sky bar since it was 10pm by now, so we ordered a Grab back to the hostel after we were ready to go as the girls had to leave the following day.
