The morning was fairly relaxed, before we set off to go to the top of the hill above the temple.
The road was not interrupted by monkeys or wild boar this time, and we locked the bikes up at the bottom of the hill.
The views were worth it, though I admit I was suffering from a bit of vertigo near the edge of the cliff. Everywhere was green, and the views across to Singapore really showed how big the state is.
We came back to the bikes and headed a bit further along the road to a shrine where we lit some incense in offering, and then made our way back to the tents to strike camp.
At the Kampung we enjoyed thai coconut, and Telur Separuh Masak (half boiled egg). We headed on to the ferry, and then made our way to Raine's flat, where I offloaded my tent, sleeping bag and camping mat for storage there. This allowed me to make my baggage weigh less than 20kg! No stupid excess baggage charges for internal flights!
On my way to my hostel, I had booked a place closer to the airport for the last few nights, Raine kidnapped Arthur, my otter travelling companion! He was held for ransom!
The hostel was quite cosy, and offered a laundry service, which I felt was definitely needed as I had run out of clean clothes by this point. I was also pleased to find that after the night in the tent with no air conditioning (I think if I am going to camp in this location again I need a tent that isn't designed for scottish winter!), though I was a little concerned that the window was left open since A/C doesn't work well when it is trying to cool down the outside world...
I finally agreed to pay the ransom for Arthur and arranged to meet Raine for steak dinner at a nearby steak house - after all, we had been talking about having steak for the last 2 weeks or so, and hadn't actually done it!
We both agreed that the steaks themselves were too expensive as such, so we bought one steak between two, and paid for the eat all you can buffet salad for each.
After the dinner, we had to stop by a health clinic, as Raine needed her regular checkup to prove she was still fit for work. It was only at this point that I got Arthur back, and then we said good bye at the Bedok station - me heading back to the hostel and Raine back to her home
