Today is Chinese New Year!
I agreed to meet up with Raine in China Town so we could enjoy the festival and see the fireworks. This proved to be quite a task, as there were huge crowds in China Town.
As Sara was expecting very soon, I decided to buy some Chinese Rooster good luck charms, one for each - Mum, Dad, and Child
After this, I spent a lot of time making my way through all the vendor stalls seeing what was on offer. The party atmosphere was tangible, and everyone was happy and in good spirits.
We agreed to meet at one location, though this kept changing as we were both distracted en route by the many stalls and trinkets available. I set myself a mission to buy some helium Rooster balloons, which took me round the whole place before I finally found a guy standing holding about 30 of them, handing them out to people who gave him money. Mission accomplished I took my prize back to the street I'd agreed to meet Raine at, and after much hilarity involving Cockrel puns, we finally found each other near the flower vendor.
It was getting close to midnight, and we decided that we would head to the Marina to watch the fireworks, based on the information we could find on the internet about it being the best place.
I had bought some sparklers at one of the stalls, and we asked a policeman at the Marina whether or not we were allowed, and since he seemed uncertain on that point we decided it was best not to, so we found a spot by the Merlion and sat down to enjoy the show.
Since it was New Year, the MRT was running later than normal, so we were able to hop on a trian back - both of us were on the same line, so we chatted until I got off at Lavender and we said our goodbyes.
