I had been keeping in touch with Raine over this time, and she had mentioned that she liked Chili Crab, so I decided I would treat her by taking her for dinner at a place that would sell it
Unfortunately due to her work commitments (working till 8pm 6 days a week!), it would have to be a place that stayed open late.
Undeterred, I managed to find a hawker center to the north which looked to be the most likely place, and without telling Raine what we were going for (and possibly hinting it was going to be steak!), she met me at Lavender, and we got a bus to the Old Airport Hawker Center.
The Chili Crab and Chili Prawns for 2 came to $60, but it was very much worth it. The crab was very fiddly to eat, and required use of fingers. I still had some lingering excema on my fingers so the chili stung a bit, but I was shown again how to open up prawns, and how to get at all the crab meat inside the crab. I definitely recommend it as something to try if you ever get to Singapore!
