Despite the late night, we managed to all get up for breakfast on time, and were ready to leave for 8.20am.
The first port of call for today's adventures, was a spot called the Pinnacle, which is a great view point to see the lake that was visible from the Reed lookout the day before.
We made it there, and the view was fairly non existent due to the fact that it was cloudy and trying to rain. There were plenty of alternative photo opportunities though, and we got some of us acting out a cliff top rescue scene.
We made it back to the bus for 10.45 and headed on ur way towards the Great Ocean Road. We had an impromptu stop in a place called Dunkeld as some of us needed the toilet, so we all took the chance to go.
We headed on to Tower Hill Lake, which is in a volcano, and is now a nature reserve. Here was the lunch stop, and we had tacos filled with salad and various left overs from the BBQ as well as some newly cooked chili meat.
We got to meet Koalas in the wild here as well as Emus, and were taught a really helpful fact about Emus - they have fairly bad eyesight, and are not too bright, so if an Emu looks to be threatening you, all you have to do is hold your arm up in the air, make a bird head and beak shape with your hand, and walk towards it - they will run away, thinking you are a bigger Emu!!
It was great seeing Koalas in the wild too, and they were being their typical sleepy self, and provided great photo shots for me!
We left the volcano at 1.45, and chatted with each other as we made our way ever closer to the famous Great Ocean Road. I learned that Isla is familir with the folk scene in Scotland, and is aquainted with Catriona MacDonald's sister, and knows Adam Sutherland. I have to say though that anyone in Scotland who doesn't know Adam Sutherland needs to o and do some research!
By 2.15 we were on the Great Ocean Road, and the first stop was the Bay of islands, followed by London Bridge, where we were told about the story of the couple who got stranded there while eloping from work, due to te first bridge bit collapsing!
After that was Loch Ard Gorge, where a ship was wrecked, resulting in a love story that never was between Tom Pearce and Eva.
The highlight of this part of the trip was meant to be the 12 apostles, but in true organised tour fashion, it started to rain when we got there, and so we had to resort to taking photos of the photos to get a good shot!
We finally pulled up in to Princetown where we stayed the night, and amused some local kids by going round the roundabout at the top four times!
We enjoyed a pizza dinner, and then headed to the pub for a pint, before settling down to watch "The Switch", a Romcom film that was quite entertaining, even though I don't normally watch that genre!
We retired for the night, ready for the last day, after writing on the delivery list where we all needed to disembark.
